Our Story
Freedom Won was officially founded in 2012 upon the completion of our first electric vehicle conversion – the now famous electric Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The Jeep served as a test bed for the then relatively unknown, but exceptional, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology, that later took the world by storm. Freedom Won placed all bets on this technology in 2009 because of its excellent safety characteristics and long service life. Battery Management System (BMS) technology was also tested and developed in the Jeep from this early stage.
Freedom Won remains the largest energy storage manufacturer in Africa and leads the market in product innovation, performance, reliability, and quality. During 2021 Freedom Won ramped up to an output of nearly 20MWh per month, with the demand for our products ensuring phenomenal growth year on year. Freedom Won’s footprint extends across Africa and further afield into several other key markets.
